Three makeup looks to try when you’re wearing a mask

The Coronavirus most certainly didn’t make things easy for us and many parts of the world are still trying to cope with the pandemic. After months of social distancing, staying indoors, working from home and not meeting our friends and family, many parts of the world have been successful in reducing the infection rate and have started opening up and are living the new normal.

While that may be true, it is still pertinent to note that taking precautionary measures could save you from being infected. Face masks have now become the new normal and we can’t imagine going anywhere without one; at least for the next few months. Having a huge part of your face covered has changed many things for us. The way we apply makeup, the way we meet people and the way we dress up. Breathing under a mask isn’t easy and the last thing you want to do is cover your face up further with a heavy base or foundation.

Many of us have now resorted to lighter formulas and even BB creams that won’t smudge under that mask. As this remains the new normal for some time now, why not focus on the rest of your face and what you can do with it.You can finally try all those fun colours on your eyelids, or go bold with that smokey eye. Whatever the mood, we’ve rounded up tthree looks you can try that will make your eyes pop while the rest of your face is covered.

A graphic liner with a bold colour

Graphic eyeliner gained much recognition at the end of last year and the beginning of 2020. If you haven’t worn makeup recently, going for a bold graphic eyeliner may be daunting but hey, what do you have to lose? When then only part of your face that shows is your eyes, then why not use those to make a statement. Opt for an eyeliner pencil in an array of colours or even black if you want to experiment first. Practice the floating eyeliner on your lids (multiple tutorials available online) until you perfect it. Then using a shimmery eyeshadow, add a hint to the inner corners of your eyes. Finish off with a coat of mascara and you’ll be good to go.

Eyeliner to match the colour of your mask

A variety of face masks are now available to purchase and can really add the take your look up a notch. Add your mask to your outfit and then match your eyeliner to your mask, and there you have it, the perfect pop of colour. If you’re more of a pastels kinda girl then you can opt for an eyeliner in hues of baby pink and sky blue. If you’re going for the bolder look then opt for a neon eyeliner look matched to a bold hued mask. Alternatively, if you’re opting to wear the common surgical mask, then opt for the classic winged eyeliner.

Pastel eyelids

This is probably the easiest look to try and can be achieved within minutes. You may have an eyeshadow palette that has a variety of colours. If you’re used to using all your darker shades for perfecting that smokey eye then now might be a good time to try the lighter pastel hues. All you need is one colour of your liking which can be used to apply all over your eyelids. If you’re feeling a little more daring, then opt for two pastel hues and create an ombre eyelid. Voila! You’ll leave heads turning!
