Three summer hairstyles to try using a silk scarf

We’re in the midst of summer, it’s hot and the temperatures are soaring. Many of us are still working from home and are yet to return to work. Some of us are still anxious to head outdoors for the fear of contracting the virus but at the same time are missing our old lives before the pandemic. We’ve tried everything while staying indoors! From cooking, to working out, to gardening and painting our plant pots and even cutting our own hair.

Now if you still managed to go without chopping your locks off, but the summer heat is making you want to go for the cut, hold on! We have the perfect solution for you that will not just look and feel good, but it will keep your hair in place all day long. All you need is a pretty silk scarf and a comb. Once you’ve got your hands on those, you’re good to go. We’re sharing two summer hairstyles to try using a silk scarf. These styles will work particularly well if you have longer hair.

Braid it up

Start by parting your hair in the middle. You can choose how high or low you want your braid to be. You can opt for a conventional braid or a French braid. Start by tying your hair into a ponytail and wrap the head of your ponytail with your chosen silk scarf. Divide your ponytail into three parts with the silk scarf on either side of the ponytail. Start braiding your hair while intertwining the silk scarf into the braid. Once you reach the end of the braid, tie it with a hairband and you’re almost done. If the end of the scarf hangs too low, you have the option to tie it into a bow or cut the ends to a desired length.

Buns and Bows

If you’re pressed for time, then putting your hair up in a messy bun is a quick and easy way to go about styling your hair. It requires minimum effort and the chic look can be achieved within minutes. Start by brushing out your hair. A messy bun usually works best when your hair is a day or two unwashed. Part your hair in the middle or side, depending on your preference and loosely tie it back. Similarly to the braid, you have the option of tying a high or low bun. Once the hair is tied into a ponytail, twist the hair and twist it up into a bun. Secure in place with hair pins and tie your scarf around the bun. The scarf can be tied into a bow or tied fully all the way around and tucked in so no part of the scarf hangs low.

Ponytail chic

If you don’t even have the time to put your hair in a bun, but still want to really use that pretty silk scarf, then there’s still another option for you. It requires no heating tools, minimum time, just some hairspray, a scarf and a hair tie. This look too will turn out best if your hair hasn’t been washed for a day or too. Once again part your hair in the middle (clearly we are fans of the middle parting) and flatten it down while tying it into a ponytail. Tie it up with a hair tie and settle any flyaways with hairspray or a hair product. Careful not to use too much because you still want to aim for a soft look. Once your hair is tied back and secured in place, take your silk scarf and tie it around your ponytail, with the knot facing upwards. You can apply the same technique if you want to opt for a high ponytail.
