Three ways to style a crisp white button down

Probably the most versatile piece of clothing in every girls wardrobe is the trusted crisp white button down. When all else fails, a white, steam pressed white shirt will never let you down. Wear it in the summer with a pencil skirt or ripped jeans, or layer it up in the winter under a thick cable knit sweater. You can create a range of versatile looks with a white shirt and if you’re stuck on how to style your white shirt, we’re here to help.

A white shirt can be dressed up or dressed down and be worn to any event, be it during the day or even night. A white shirt will take you through a meeting and then a brunch and also through to a quick dinner with friends. Read on to find out the different ways in which you can style your conventional button down and give a classic look a modern twist.

Half in, half out

This is possibly the easiest way to add a twist to your crisp white shirt. It is neither tucked in nor out and elevates your look to a whole new level. Take one side of your shirt and tuck it in while leaving the other half tucked out. This can be tucked into a pair of skinny jeans, ripped jeans or even a pair of faux leather pants. Round off the look with a pair of heels or flats and a pair of pearl studs and you’re good to go.

Off the shoulder

Here’s another easy way to add a twist to your white shirt and it’s rather quick to achieve this look. Grab your shirt and button it up, but make sure you don’t button it up all the way. Leave three to four buttons undone from the top which will give you the leverage to pull the shirt over your shoulder. Pull one side over your shoulder and tuck your shirt in a skirt, pants or jeans and you’re done. Add some dainty gold jewellery and you’ll add some glam to your basic shirt.

Wear it front to back

While you may need some assistance to achieve this look, this look goes a long way and will amp up your style instantly. Wear your shirt the wrong way around and have someone button up the back for you. Rolling the sleeves up will add some structure to your look and give it a chic finish. The buttons at the back can be buttoned all the way up or you could leave a few buttons undone from the bottom to reveal a part of your back. Alternatively you can knot the shirt at the back for a more unique and fun look.
