TikTok Star Jannat Mirza Reveals She Is Not Moving To Japan In Latest Video

TikTok sensation Jannat Mirza first made headlines when news about her hitting the 10 million followers mark made the rounds on the internet. Soon after, she revealed that she was permanently moving to Japan, while responding to a user in an Instagram comment. While many assumed that she had flown out to the foreign land following Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) temporary ban on the video-sharing app, Mirza has now stated otherwise. In a video uploaded on the internet, the social media influencer has clarified that she is not shifting permanently, adding that she made her previous comments in the spur of the moment. When Mirza was earlier asked by a follower, “Aap Japan shift ho rahee hain kya? (Are you shifting to Japan?),” she replied with, “Jee (yes)”.

Mirza mentioned that her comments in fact had to do with the increasing rape cases in Pakistan and the misogynistic narrative being encouraged in the country. “A lot of channels and blogs had published headlines that ‘Jannat Mirza is moving to Japan because of banning culture in Pakistan’. I never said that I was moving because of banning culture,” she said.

Adding further, Mirza shared in the clip, “I knew that TikTok was going to get unbanned since I was in contact with the company. I did make a statement about moving to Japan but it was after seeing countless reports about women children being raped in the country. The final draw for me was when an official said that the victim shouldn’t have gone out in the first place.” She mentioned that her stay in Japan is temporary and she is returning to Pakistan this week. “Anyway, I am not moving to Japan and I am coming back to Pakistan. But I will go back after a few months since after finishing my university in Pakistan, I want to pursue higher education,” Mirza concluded.
