Leading the TikTok game, social media sensation Jannat Mirza first grabbed eyeballs when news about her hitting the 10 million followers mark made the rounds on the internet. Soon after, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) banned the video-sharing app, citing vulgar and obscene content as the pivotal reason. Mirza did not oppose the ban, however. “I, myself, wanted a ban on TikTok in Pakistan, but it should not be on a permanent basis. Videos should be allowed to be broadcast after a formal code of conduct,” she said last week. Now, in a rather surprising turn of events, the starlet has allegedly moved to Japan.
The 22-year-old, who has a large following on various social media platforms, decided to shift to Japan following PTA’s ban on TikTok. She cited the “low mentality” of Pakistanis as the primary reason behind her decision. She broke the news to her fans via an Instagram upload of herself, with “Tokyo, Japan” tagged in the location. In the image, Mirza can be seen sporting a black leather dress over a full-sleeves turtle neck. Wearing a cross-body bag, she let her poker-straight hair down as she posed for the camera. Many took to the comments section and inquired when she will be returning to Pakistan.

However, Mirza clarified that she has decided to move to Japan permanently. Others asked her about her favourite South Korean bands, her siblings, her favourite colour and her comments on the recent TikTok ban among others. In one of the responses, Mirza also revealed that she plans to pay a visit to Pakistan in November, hinting at how she is excited about a forthcoming project. She did not disclose many details about the venture. Earlier, Mirza posted that the TikTok ban in Pakistan has helped her to know who her well-wishers are. “Tiktok ban honay ka aik faida zarur huwa k mjhe tamaam Aasteen k saanpo ka pata lag gya. Thanks to PTA,” she posted on the photo-sharing platform.
