Tinkay Ka Sahara Episode 10: Rubab Hashim’s Duriya Makes An Important Decision for Her Child

While “Tinkay Ka Sahara” is doing very well in ratings, one cannot argue that the show Is currently at a deeply depressing point.  Starring Sami Khan, Rubab Hashim, Sonya Hussyn, Haroon Shahid, Ayesha Toor, Adnan Jaffar, Sana Askari and others, the story of “Tinkay Ka Sahara” has been written by Zanjabeel Asim and directed by Zeeshan Ahmed.  Telling the tale of two women facing loss in uniquely different ways and yet tied together by an accident, this story shows two vastly contrasting faces of marriage.

Of course, there are many frustrating moments in episode 10, namely the scenes focusing on Duriya and her father.  Her father, while well-intentioned and trying to keep his daughter away from harm, does not understand what Duriya is truly facing and experiencing.  It’s often said that only people who are married, have children, have been divorced, or experienced these specific life events are the only ones who are able to truly empathize or understand what an individual is experiencing internally – and it’s true.  While Duriya’s father loves her and wants to protect her, he is unable to see the situation from her point of view.  She may be angry with Wasay (Sami Khan), her abuser and tormentor, but despite wanting to break off the relationship with him herself, she does not want her child to suffer without her father.  Against her parents wishes, she takes their daughter to visit Wasay in jail and the two bond over their little girl, even naming her together.  And in this moment, Wasay expresses sorrow over how he has treated her and declares that if she wishes to split, he will happily give her a divorce.  It’s clear from Duriya’s reaction that she isn’t entirely ready to make this decision, especially after seeing Wasay with their daughter.

As a viewer, it’s beautiful to see Wasay changing behind bars and becoming a more humble human being – but does he really deserve forgiveness from Duriya?  He caused severe physical and emotional harm….and this is putting aside the trauma that she (and her family) experienced after he shot an innocent bystander in efforts to scare Duriya herself.  It’s Sami Khan’s wonderful performance which makes Wasay a character we currently feel for.  We can sense his pain and grief and want him to be reunited with his family and released…..but that’s Sami’s acting.  Does Wasay himself really deserve that?  He is, in fact, a bad guy who killed our beloved Hammad (Haroon Shahid).

On the other end, it’s frustration unlimited in the case of Qadr (Sonya Hussyn), who is living under dire circumstances with no one to love and protect her.  Her villainous Bhabi (Sana Askari) and brother-in-law (why is it that whenever Naveed Raza is cast in a role, you just know it’ll be a manipulative one?) are now plotting on how to get their hands on Qadr’s business and property.  But how can they even plan this without Qadr’s full involvement?  Why would Qadr even allow herself to be treated like a slave without pay?  And how can these two even think they have a right to a business that relies entirely on Qadr’s cooking?!  It’s depressing watching this scenario and Qadr needs rescuing soon.

A prediction can be made that Rubab Hashim’s Duriya will step in to befriend Qadr and help her with her business before ultimately asking her to sign a pardon for Wasay (much along the lines of Bollywood film “Dor”).  This would be a nice change in storyline if the story does, in fact, move on to focus on the two female leads.  But is that where the story is headed?  We will have to wait and see.  Despite the depressing tracks, it’s the acting that works most in “Tinkay Ka Sahara.”  From Sami Khan to Sonya Hussyn, Rubab Hashim, Saba Faisal and Ayesha Toor, everyone is doing a great job.  All we need now are some lighter episodes!
