Tinkay Ka Sahara Episode 12: Sami Khan’s Performance Impresses As Wasay Is Sentenced To Death

“Tinkay Ka Sahara” is one of those (so far) great shows that not only tells an engaging story, but also allows its artists to tap into their talents and perform.  Starring Sami Khan, Rubab Hashim, Sonya Hussyn, Haroon Shahid, Ayesha Toor, Adnan Jaffar, Sana Askari and others, the story of Tinkay Ka Sahara has been written by Zanjabeel Asim and directed by Zeeshan Ahmed. Over the past several weeks, we have been introduced to Qadr (Sonya Hussyn) who loses her husband, Hammad (Haroon Shahid) in a random shootout as Wasay (Sami Khan) threatens his wife Duriya (Rabab Hashim) with air firing.  In a moment, a senseless tragedy destroys many lives.

While the overall feel of “Tinkay Ka Sahara” has been grim over the past few weeks, the story is now moving forward and things are beginning to look up.  The highlight of the episode is how Qadr bonds with her mother-in-law and consoles her, assuring her that she will be there for her as a daughter the same way Hammad was there for her as a son.  This gives us, as viewers, hope that her mother-in-law will be the support and voice for Qadr that she so desperately needs – and will help Qadr wrench her successful business out of the greedy claws of her son and daughter-in-law.  This is a team we want to see band together!

Wasay is sentenced to death, which is bittersweet.  Wasay did take an innocent life, even if it was an accident.  He did abuse Duriya and threatened her parents….that too, with a gun.  Wasay is still, in fact, a bad guy who should be punished.  But we are seeing a changed Wasay and along with Wasay, we see a huge change in his sister (Ayesha Toor), who has learnt humility – and even admits to being scared while talking to Duriya.  These women now realize it’s them against the world and join hands to fight for Wasay.  It’s the way that the female characters have come together to support one another that is really striking a chord in viewers.

Sonya Hussyn, Sami Khan and Saba Faisal’s performances are excellent this week, particularly Sami Khan’s charged performance as the reality of the situation finally dawns on him.  Wasay is not an easy character to play, as we are supposed to hate him for what he has done while also sympathizing with his predicament – and Sami is the perfect choice for the role, as he manages to evoke exactly that out of the audience.  At the present juncture, we are just waiting for Duriya and Qadr to meet. The story seems to be headed exactly as predicted last week with Duriya befriending Qadr in order to ask for her signature on Wasay’s court order for forgiveness.
