Tinkay Ka Sahara Episode 27: Sami Khan’s Performance As Wasay Takes Center Stage

From the start, “Tinkay Ka Sahara” has impressed viewers with its emotional tale.  This has never been a show that could be called action-packed, rather it’s the story of a violent action which tears apart several lives.  This drama has been emotion heavy and that continues as the story pushes forward.   Starring Sonya Hussyn, Rubab Hashim, Sami Khan, Haroon Shahid and Saba Faisal in prominent roles, the story has been written by Zanjabeel Asim and directed by Zeeshan Ahmed.

In episode 27, Wasay (Sami Khan) has now been released from jail and is back home with Durriya (Rubab Hashim) and Adeela (Ayesha Toor).  However, though now a free man, Wasay is a prisoner of his thoughts – and guilt.  While Qadr (Sonya Hussyn) may have “forgiven” him and allowed him to resume his life, his conscience continues to haunt him.  Up until now, Wasay’s focus has been escaping the rough lifestyle behind jail and being reunited with his family.  Now that he has achieved that goal, he is forced to face his new reality – he murdered a man and is responsible for turning Qadr’s world upside down.  While the narrative is attempting to whitewash a criminal act, the fact does remain that Wasay set out to scare Durriya and her family, not actually physically cause harm.  Hammad’s death was a terrible accident, the outcome of Wasay’s abusive, violent anger, but Wasay did not intentionally kill him.  Does this make the situation any better?  Not necessarily, but it’s nice to see that Wasay and his family are acknowledging that he desperately needs to see a therapist.  Adeela’s acknowledgement of Wasay’s previous history is also a win with the writing and it’s true; had Adeela recognized Wasay’s poor mental health, she could have avoided this sort of outcome altogether.  The involvement of family members is half the battle with South Asian families and it’s a positive to see that being highlighted.

Qadr’s life has begun to move on as she restarts her catering business….for a third time.  At this point, we can only hope Wasay and Durriya stay out of her business, because she cannot possibly continue starting from scratch each time they help her!  Unfortunately, Qadr’s life isn’t becoming any easier with here mother-in-law (Saba Faisal) now falling ill with a tumor.  This will not only take a financial toll on Qadr, but also leave her alone without support once again.  We are assuming her mother-in-law will pass away, because ill characters rarely go through remission in Pakistani dramas.

Sonya Hussyn and Sami Khan are both doing such an incredible job in their roles.  We can feel for both characters.  While Wasay is desperately seeking redemption, Qadr still has a right to be angry and is not responsible for relieving his conscience.  This is what’s ridiculous about Durriya’s character at this point.  She has chosen to forgive her husband and that’s valid.  However, how can she call Qadr selfish and behave as though she and Wasay are entitled to Qadr’s respect?  Qadr did what she could out of kindness, despite Wasay murdering her husband.  She does not owe either of them anything, rather they should stay miles away from her at this point.  Unfortunately, we can see the great red flag looming ahead with Qadr winding up married to Wasay as his brand of “redemption.”  This is the twist we have genuinely been hoping would not happen, but it does appear to be in the cards.  So far, “Tinkay Ka Sahara” has been well-written, so let’s hope the final few episodes play out in a believable way.
