Several passengers from India and Pakistan were denied entry into Dubai following revised travel guidelines. Airlines and travel agents in the Gulf emirate have now enforced new rules for visit visa holders and tourists flying into the region from five countries, namely Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. Multiple people were flown back to their hometowns after failing to show a valid round-trip ticket for entry into the Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Those not adhering to the regulations will be sent back to the destination they departed from, with the concerned airlines having to bear the expenses.
Following this recent development, Indian air carriers including Air India Express and IndiGo issued fresh travel updates for Indian passengers travelling to Dubai on tourist/visit visas or planning to obtain a “visa on arrival” in Dubai. Moreover, Air India Express stated that all passengers must possess a valid return ticket in order to be granted a smooth entry into Dubai, otherwise they will be deported at their own cost and expenses.

Officials from the Indian and Pakistani Consulates in Dubai confirmed that multiple passengers from were denied entry for non-compliance of regulations for visit/tourist visa holders and were flown back home. However, a handful of them were allowed entry into Dubai. “Out of 561 stranded Pakistani passengers, the consulate managed the entry of 23 passengers into the UAE. Of the remaining, 386 have been sent back and 152 are still at the airport. Their repatriation is being arranged on various flights by tonight,” a spokesperson from the Pakistani Consulate in Dubai told Gulf News. “We are with them at the airport and food is being provided. Our Consul General had meetings with UAE Foreign Office and DG Immigration as well,” he added. Out of the 200 Indian passengers stranded at Dubai International Airport, 120 were flown back home while 30 were cleared for entry.
