It has been established by now that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has one of the most successful vaccination programmes in the world. In more exciting news, the country has now achieved a new milestone in its Covid-19 journey, with its vaccination rate reaching 100.10 doses per 100 people, reported Khaleej Times. This comes after the UAE administered 111,176 doses of the vaccine in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of jabs administered to 9.9 million.
On Tuesday, a leading official announced that the country has more than 3.8 million fully vaccinated residents, accounting to more that 65% of its eligible population – a comparatively higher number to other countries. The same day, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) warned the Emirates may impose restrictions on those who have not been vaccinated yet. These may range from being allowed into specific places to being completely barred from others.

This is because the UAE has remained adamant in its efforts in administering the shot to its entire population as soon as possible, citing it as the only solution to the complete elimination of the deadly pandemic. Thus, since UAE’s immunisation campaign primarily stresses on the importance of inoculation, unvaccinated individuals might pose a threat in spreading the virus once again. “Strict measures are being considered to restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals and to implement preventive measures such as forbidding entry to some places and having access to some services,” NCEMA spokesman Saif Al Dhaheri said. “Your hesitation today is an obstacle to our goals, it puts your family, loved ones and community at risk,” he concluded.
