President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan will reportedly pay a visit to Pakistan next week. The premier will be in the country for about 14 days and is set to be accompanied by a high-level delegation. For over a decade, UAE leaders have been coming to Cholistan for houbara hunting. While Sheikh Nayhan’s primary purpose remains the same, he will also be meeting with Pakistani President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. A few UAE officials are expected to reach Cholistan before Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed in order to sort out necessary arrangements.
Rangers have been positioned in five districts in line of Cholistan. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has asked for three companies of rangers from the federal interior ministry for the security of the UAE royal delegation. The UAE President could not come to Cholistan for the last eight years due to health-related issues. However, UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed has visited Cholistan often in the past many years, each time with a high-level delegation.

According to various sources, Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum will also be visiting Cholistan with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed. They will also visit Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur, as well as Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Cholistani areas adjacent to D.G. Khan. The three companies of rangers will be deployed in these districts till March 31, 2021. Earlier this week, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed paid tribute to UAE frontline workers in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. He said, “We extend our deepest appreciation to the dedicated workers; for a crisis well managed, for a decisive handling of the pandemic, for the preservation of the nation’s security, for the protection of its economy, for safeguarding the wellbeing of its community, and for ensuring the continuity of the educational process.”
