The United Arab Emirates is home to more than 200 diverse nationalities living in peace and harmony. Residents have the freedom to practice their religion alongside several civil rights given to every citizen. The country boasts of vast cultural pluralism, instilling the values of tolerance, peace and security amongst its people. In light of the Covid-19 global crisis, those hailing from different religions and nationalities came together to share a heartfelt message, centering on “Here in the United Arab Emirates, community support and togetherness sees no borders. We are in this together.” A short video posted on Weqaya UAE’s Instagram reinstates just that!
The clip starts off with a Sikh man, saying, “We are thankful to the rulers of UAE, the government of UAE and the health authorities of UAE for looking after all of us in these difficult times.” Following suit, one more UAE resident adds, “As we serve others, we lift our own spirits.” Next in line is a Pakistani man speaking in Urdu as he mentions, “Strengthen yourselves. There are many behind you waiting for you to return to them safely.”

Urging people to not give up hope, another man says, “These are challenging times for you and may lead you to a deep sense of depression and hopelessness and even despair to the point that you have considered that life under these circumstances is useless and you want to end it all but wait! Wait my friend. Your life is precious to the God who made you and brought you into this world.” Echoing his sentiments, a woman takes over and adds, “That is the true and living God. The God who created you. He loves you. He cares for every aspect of what you are going through.” Talking further, another UAE-based man notes, “So, we must have enthusiasm. We must have strength; I hope this power will give us a new dimension. Thank you!” The one-and-a-half-minute long video comes to an end with concise but impactful concluding words. “You are such a special person living at this point of time and so precious to God and the community we live in.”
