Urmila Matondkar responds to Kangana’s ‘soft porn star’ comment and the internet is here for it

The queen of controversy, Kangana Ranaut has been at it again. There’s no holding her back and she is known for her outspokenness. There isn’t a week that goes by when Kangana Ranaut doesn’t make headlines for a controversial statement or for bashing a fellow colleague. It is no understatement to say that she has targetted pretty much everyone in the showbiz industry and now, actress-turned-politician, Urmila Matondkar has been slammed by the Queen actress.

In a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut asserted that Urmila is known not for her acting skills but for being a ‘soft porn star’. Kangana Ranaut’s statement came shortly after Urmila questioned her for constantly talking about drugs. Urmila is a veteran in the industry and the rest of the film fraternity, celebrities and netizens are not having it. Majority of them came out in support of Urmila and once again, Kangana Ranaut is having to bear the brunt of her own actions.

Urmila too in a recent interview opened up and responded to Kangana’s statement which led to further backlash for the Panga actress. “You have to decide do you want to constantly play the victim card and non-stop say main toh victim hun, victim hun, victim hun?” she said in her interview with an entertainment portal in India. Urmila further questioned Kangana on why she is speaking about everything now and asked her why she was quiet in the past.

“Everything that you have got today — the name, the fame and the money — is all thanks to Mumbai and the film industry,” she said. “Why is it that you have not spoken about these things in the last so many years and are speaking about all this only in the last few months? The timing seems funny. Everything seems going a bit berserk,” Urmila was quoted as saying.

Fire was added to the fuel when other celebrities and Urmila fans took to Twitter to bash Kangana Ranaut and as usual, Kangana Ranaut came under fire for her inappropriate remarks. Actor Swara Bhasker took to the micro blogging site and penned, “Dear @UrmilaMatondkar ji, ji, remembering ur outstanding performances in Masoom, Chamatkaar, Rangeela, Judaai, Daud, Satya, Bhoot, Kaun, Jungle, Pyaar Tuney Kya Kiya, Tehzeeb, Pinjar, Ek Hasina Thi.. among others and have marvelled at your acting chops & brilliant dancing! Love u”.

Producer Pooja Bhatt tweeted about what a legend Urmila was. “@UrmilaMatondkar you are a legend. #Rangeela was a treat visually, emotionally and you raised the bar for all of us in so many ways. You left us all,co-actors and an entire generation of movie goers awestruck! Sensuality & dignity.. two qualities you combined & embodied. Respect!” she wrote.

Entertainment Editor, Rohit Khilnani was of the opinion that Urmila has done extremely well for herself while discrediting Kangana Ranaut for her foul language. “#UrmilaMatondkar is a self made woman. When she did movies she did extremely well for herself. She did lead roles and also did movies in various languages. Her success story is out there! When #KangnaRanaut uses foul language to talk about Urmila, she reveals a lot about herself.

An enraged journalist, Swati Chaturvedi took to Twitter to term the language used by Kangana Ranaut as disgusting. “Compare the sheer dignity of @UrmilaMatondkar & Jaya Bachchan & Hema Malini who have defended the film industry to the utter disgusting language of @KanganaTeam comparing a “demolition” to rape & calling Urmila a “soft porn star!”

Here’s what other netizens had to say about Urmila and Kangana Ranaut’s use of words:

“Urmila Matondkar speaks so well 🙂 must learn how to put forward your opinions without degrading others…Pity that a senseless lady called her soft porn star & said that the demolition felt like she was being raped! 🙂 seriously?!”
