US Presidential Election 2020: Kanye West Confirms He Voted For Himself

The ongoing presidential elections in the United States have everyone stuck to their TV’s waiting for the big announcement. With Donald Trump and Joe Biden neck-to-neck in the total number of votes, it will be exciting to know what the outcome will be. Many celebrities including Selena Gomez, Ryan Reynolds and Kanye West have cast their votes for the first time ever. While the rapper remains an avid supporter of Trump and has expressed the same on multiple occasions, he has now confirmed that he voted for himself as the next US president. This comes after his campaign was marred with some questionable statements, with many assuming that he would draw off some Black votes from Democrat Joe Biden.

The musician and fashion designer tweeted “God is so good. Today I am voting for the first time in my life for the President of the United States, and it’s for someone I truly trust…me.” He later posted a video of himself casting his vote in Cody, Wyoming, where he wrote his own name on the ballot paper. While West came on board for the presidential ballot in a few states, he was unable to make his presence felt in battlegrounds like Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan. He has spent recent weeks instructing followers how to vote for him as a write-in candidate elsewhere.

His wife and reality TV star Kim Kardashian, did not appear to be supporting her husband’s bid. She has given no public endorsements of her husband and on Tuesday she retweeted a message about voter hotlines from Democratic vice presidential contender Kamala Harris. West launched his campaign for the White House in July with statements that raised concerns over his mental health. The 21-time Grammy Award winner said in 2018 that he suffers from bipolar disorder. West loaned $6.7 million to his campaign, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission, and in a recent video emphasized religion and family values, reported Reuters.
