Viral sensation ‘Chai Wala’ opens his brand new cafe in Islamabad

If you take a trip down memory lane, you may recall Pakistan’s favourite Chai Wala, Arshad Khan, who went viral for his looks a couple of years earlier. While the hype may have died down and some people may even have forgotten about him, heis now back and is making big moves. A recent report by a Pakistani channel revealed that the former tea-seller is back with some big news.

The chai wala from Islamabad has just opened up his very own rooftop cafe in his city which has now started operating. Arshad Khan has named his brand new venture Café Chai Wala, instead of using his own name. While speaking to the local TV channel, Arshad Khan said, “Many people told me to change the current name and instead name it Arshad Khan, but I refused because Chai Wala is my identity.” He went on to add that he still manages to create a stir when his friends want some chai made by him.

Inside the cafe, the interior boasts traditional and cultural elements which comprises walls adorned with truck art, desi straw tables and chairs, script written in Urdu and overall a traditional desi vibe. The current menu comprises around 15-20 dishes, exclusive of tea.

“This is the most important thing for me right now because it is associated with my name so I dedicate a lot of my time to the café,” Khan said while adding that he also gives time to his acting career. He further expressed regret about not completing his education despite his accomplishments. He also shared his future plans which will include setting up an organisation to help underprivileged children access education easily.
