Wehshi Episode 28: Khushhal Khan Stuns Viewers As Asif Takes a Dark Turn

“Wehshi” has been capturing eyeballs for its unique storyline accompanied by intense, strong acting from its lead (and supporting) cast. “Wehshi” stars Khushhal Khan, Komal Meer, Nadia Khan, Babar Ali and others in central roles while the screenplay  has been written by Shumaila Zaidi and directed by Iqbal Hussain.  Up until now, the narrative has been gripping, but with episode 28, it takes a grim turn, further highlighting its main point – how much heartbreak can one person really take before they take a turn for evil?

In episode 28, Sobia (Komal Meer) is now married to Aamir.  This is torture for Asif (Khushhal Khan), who had seen Sobia as his lifeline, his reason for happiness and the light at the end of his very dark tunnel.  Sobia was more than just the woman he loved, she was the one person who helped him build up his confidence, feel loved and wanted and gave him a desire to better himself……and then, just like that, she betrayed him for her brother.  Sobia’s deception is something very difficult to wrap the mind around, because it just seems so cruel.  But if we look at it from a logical point of view, this is a very young girl who fell in love foolishly as many do at that age.  Her love was not fickle and we cannot claim she did not really love Asif…..but she did not allow logic to step into that relationship until Asif was no longer in front of her.  When presented with the more reasonable, mature, less maniacal, family-oriented Aamir, she realized this was the future she wanted.  Her decision was heartless, only because she knew Asif was not emotionally stable, deliberately pushed herself into his path to become his emotional crutch and then after building all his hopes, shattered them.  Sobia’s crime is loving Asif when she could never follow through with it due to her own materialistic, selfish desires.

The majority of the episode is a one-man show with Khushhal Khan deeply expressing his grief to his best friend, flip-flopping between extreme anger, discussing moving forward with Sadaf and refusing to go back home and then extreme grief, realizing he can never again live in that home where his mother lives with Sobia’s entry as Aamir’s wife.  Khushhal Khan is incredible in this role and steals the show with each episode, really allowing the audience to feel Asif’s grief and connect with him as a character.  To make matters worse for Asif, Majid (Babar Ali) is also aware of Asif’s love for Sobia and paints that love in a very ugly way to Aamir, turning brother against brother.  Majid has been the cause of Asif’s pain and trauma, but ultimately, blame lies entirely with Muneera (Nadia Khan), who has never been able to stick up for her son the way she should have.  Babar Ali and Nadia Khan have also done a wonderful job in their roles, making the entire scenario come to life.

With the final scene, Asif takes a drastic step in order to “ruin” his family – but what does he do exactly?  All we see, as viewers, is Asif walking out of Sobia’s bedroom with Muneera and Aamir both perplexed seeing what’s in the room.  Did Asif rape Sobia?  Did he murder her?  It’s entirely unclear, but what is clear is that Asif did something bad, taking away hope for his happy ending.  Rather now, we are now prepared for where the story is most likely headed, a tale showing how an individual without love and affection can move into an incredibly dark place.  Regardless of where the story goes from here, “Wehshi” has been so well-etched throughout its run so far, we can’t help but expect something great moving forward as well.
