“Woh Pagal Si” Ends In A Predictable, Yet Happy Manner

“Woh Pagal Si” has been an enjoyable watch throughout the duration of its run. Has it been a perfect show? Absolutely not and a small bulk of episodes felt ridiculously dragged out. However, the story, essentially a full-fledged war between two women, has been its greatest strength and the exchanges between Hira Khan’s Sarah and Zubab Rana’s Shazma has been the highlight. Of course, Saad Qureshi and Hira Khan’s romance as Zaheen and Sarah has won the hearts of viewers. But how does the finale wrap up the loose ends?

In the finale, Wahaj (Omer Shahzad) is now dead, killed in a moment of passion by Shazma (Zubab Rana). Now on the run, Shazma hides out at her mother’s home, which is heavily guarded on the outside. Shazma’s circumstances are dire and it’s actually unfortunate to see her in this position. Shazma has not been a “good girl” by any means and manipulation has come very easily for her. But she has done it all for “love,” her love and faith in a man – Wahaj. And is it really justice being depicted on screen when Wahaj has gotten off “easy,” accidentally murdered by a woman who will now live out the rest of her life behind bars for a situation he was more than 75% responsible for? Of course, we must put emphasis on the word “accidental,” as Wahaj was actually aiming to murder Shazma himself and wound up shot during the scuffle. Shazma’s end feels bittersweet, as she certainly deserved punishment – but so did Wahaj. We can’t help feeling sad for Shazma as she sits behind bars, envisioning Ahsan (Babar Ali) visiting her in jail….ultimately left alone. Zubab Rana’s performance hasn’t been pitch perfect and she needs a voice modulation coach, but she has done a good job bringing Shazma to life.

Of course, Hira Khan and Saad Qureshi have been the stars of the show. Their romance has felt so natural on screen and they have slowly been proving themselves as strong actors. The journey Zaheen and Sarah have been through during the course of the show is beautiful and it was nice to see the end message regarding that relationship – Hard work will always pay off. This message not only applied to their relationship, a relationship they both had to work on to make successful, but also their future. While Zaheen could have taken many shortcuts throughout the early years of his career, he did not and instead chose to take a longer path to success.

Babar Ali has also done a good job, though his other currently running roles have given him much more scope to perform. “Woh Pagal Si” has given viewers a unique storyline that has been an entertaining experience over the past few months. At the end, it is Zaheen and Sarah’s relationship that will most be missed.
