Fans were disappointed when the coronavirus pandemic came in the way of the much-awaited Wonder Woman film. It was initially scheduled for release in June this year. Following several delays amid worldwide uncertainty due to the epidemic, the upcoming movie is now back on track, with the team making an official announcement today. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 is here to save Christmas and will be heading to the streaming platform HBO Max in December. The Patty Jenkins-helmed project also stars Chris Pine in the lead. According to reports, the superhero film will hit international markets on December 16, followed by its release in US cinemas and on HBO Max on December 25.
I can't wait for the world to see this amazing woman on the screen. She'll blow your mind and warm your heart. @GalGadot killed it in this film, and she does all that great and hard work for only the most honorable reasons. She is a true #Wonderwoman so I hope you enjoy #WW84 https://t.co/Q7fYuNAEab

Ann Sarnoff, CEO of WarnerMedia issued a statement about the unusual release, saying, “As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.” Fans of the fantasy franchise cannot wait to watch the film either. Most American users are referring to the film’s impending release as the “best Christmas gift”, with UK-based fans wondering how they will get to watch it. Here are the top reactions on the micro-blogging platform:
To be honest, I am very tempted to get HBO Max sub now. Wonder Woman 84, very good other shows…might be good end of the year content.

What are the chances of @cineworld reopening for Wonder Woman next month if we're not still in lockdown? I'd really like to see it in IMAX. 🤔

@hbomax @HBOMaxPR @PattyJenks @GalGadot Great wonderwoman 84 is coming out at last. But what about us in the UK, our cinemas are closed and we don't have HBO Max. Will you be releasing it on another platform for us?
— Jason mundon-carter (@spike_1975) November 19, 2020
So Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on HBO MAX on December 25, which still doesn't support 4K, HDR, or anything better than Dolby Digital (not even DD+) on most platforms. Maybe I can just rent out an entire IMAX theatre for myself. I mean, they're all closed anyway.

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman lassoing and riding the lightning looks epic. #WonderWoman1984

Ms. Gadot actually is the real deal, quite nearly as formidable as Wonder Woman in real life. Your daughter picked a good role model.

See Wonder Woman 84 on the big screen, in a movie theater, maybe. In France, cinemas closed. But who knows, in a month? Very keen to see Gal on the big screen. Let's fight for the life of cinemas. pic.twitter.com/8yOXNValEI

Is This The Most Helpful Message For Stopping Covid-19? Twitter Reacts
Gadot also posted about the development on her social media. She tweeted, “It wasn’t an easy decision and we never thought we’d have to hold onto the release for such a long time but COVID rocked all of our worlds. You can watch it IN THEATERS (they’re doing an amazing job keeping it safe) and you can also watch it on HBOMAX from your homes. Sending you my love. Please keep safe and wear a mask.” One of the first celebrities to reply to Gadot was Bollywood actor Ali Fazal. “Best of luck Gal! It’s going to be great. Everyone is looking forward to this.”
