Ye Dil Mera Episode 32 is Saved by Sajal

Sajal Ali in Ye Dil Mera

Thankfully Sajal Ali can act. Otherwise, the hot mess that was Ye Dil Mera was doomed to die in the lakes of Darya Bagh.

Written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Ahson Talish, Ye Dil Mera starred Sajal Ali, Ahad Raza Mir, Adnan Siddiqui, Paras Masroor, Mira Sethi and Naima Khan. Adnan Siddiqui plays evil Mir Farooq Zaman who is a domestic abuser, wife-killer, who attempted to rape his ex (played by Zarnish Khan) once he found out she had moved into a house next to his. Personification of evil.

Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir in Ye Dil Mera

Aina (Sajal Ali) is Mir Farooq Zaman’s innocent daughter who has repressed all her childhood memories where she actually saw her mother being killed by her father’s henchman Ali Bukhsh (Paras Masroor). She would have nightmares about going to a well and a train station. Her psychiatrist (played by Muhammad Ahmad) had pointed out to himself that her father was lying about her ‘peaceful’ childhood. Until those few episodes, the tv show was intriguing and filled with plenty of thrill and unpredictability. However, it slowly began slipping into mistakes that even amateur viewers would be horrified by. From clothes to timings to obvious scenes missing, the show went downhill. Much like Mir Farooq and Nilofer’s marriage.

This episode however was muchly saved by the performances of the lead actors and the fact that it finally gave the plot the much needed answers that … well, were obvious by now … but also well-deserved. Sajal Ali digs deep into Aina’s emotional and psychological turmoil that makes you forgive all the inconsistencies that you had been seeing in the development of her character and the shooting of the series.

I mean how does a doll, that’s been lying around in a forsaken house for twenty years, have such shiny hair still? What voodoo is this?

Sajal Ali in Ye Dil Mera

For now we can forgive the show for disappointing us at various levels because this final episode gave the audiences the emotional purge they so needed. Farooq faces off Amaan. Aina finds out the truth. Bua and Khala finally say the stuff they need to say and everyone now knows what an evil monster Mir Farooq Zaman is.

It only makes you hope that Sajal and Ahad are better used in other features that can do them justice. Same goes for Adnan Siddiqui and Paras Masroor. Paras was especially dreadfully wasted. As was the mustache he was wearing. No one could buy that mustache even for a second.

As the last episode (?) rolls on next week, we see a deja vu of Yaqeen Ka Safar. Sajal is in a hospital gown (has she tried to die again as did Zubia in YKS) and Ahad is crying for her (as did Asfandyar in YKS). I really hope there’s something more to this. Otherwise it would just add to the series of disappointments that Ye Dil Mera inflicted upon its viewers.
