Yun Tu Hai Pyar Bohut Episode 19: Zain and Aima Meet Again At a Wedding

“Yun Tu Hai Pyar Bohut” is one of those shows that isn’t spoken about much, but is actually a pretty solid, entertaining show (despite the ridiculous title spelling).  Starring Affan Waheed and Hira Mani in lead roles, they are supported by Javed Sheikh, Nadia Hussain, Maryam Mirza, Sabeena Syed, Komal Rizvi and others in a show written by Aliya Bukhari and directed by Kashif Saleem.  The show centers around the concept of lovers kept apart due to differences in priorities and attitudes towards life, though the two genuinely do love each other – or at least Zain does.

In episode 19, we see a lot of fluffy, repetitive scenes, but there are only a few things of consequence. Zain (Affan Waheed) arrives back in Karachi for Kashif’s sister’s wedding.  It’s here where he meets Aima (Hira Mani) again and it becomes apparent that Aima is still unwilling to “forgive” Zain….for a mistake he never made.  Aima’s trust issues will not allow her to even have a proper discussion with Zain, as she has written him off the same way she has written off her father.  It’s Affan Waheed and Hira Mani’s chemistry that makes the viewer want to root for this couple, otherwise Zain has reached the point already of “he’s too good for her” status.  Meanwhile, Nazi continues to get deeply involved (and indebted to) with her boss, though it’s clear that she has feelings for Kashif – and those feelings are returned.  It’s easy to root for this sweet pair, but Nazi’s indiscretions with her boss are really hard to digest.

The thing about “Yun Toh Hai Pyar Bohut” is that the misunderstandings created are easily things that could be cleared out – if only Aima were not so hot-headed.  Generally, if there’s an issue, the injured party should allow the other to explain themselves.  The constant jumping-to-conclusions is Aima’s motus operandi and it makes it difficult to like her – while also an understandable quirk due to her family circumstances, which also makes it difficult to dislike her.  But the issue is that Aima and Zain’s problems initially stemmed around financial security, however they now center around Sonia….Sonia, who is the show’s most insignificant, useless character.

There’s no reason for Sonia to continue being a wedge in anyone’s life.  She has been chasing Zain and, quite honestly, stalking him.  Fortunately, Zain is such a likable, sweet, loyal character that he has not only refused Sonia outright, but also cut off with anyone (his friend) who associates with her.  So why does she keep acting as though Aima “stole” Zain from her?  He never belonged to her.  This is a character who serves no purpose but to compete with Aima.  At this point, we are ready for Mohsin (Javed Sheikh) to find his family and make things right for his other two girls.

The bottom line with “Yun Toh Hai Pyar Bohut” is that it’s an entertaining show with an interesting storyline and should be doing better in the ratings game.  It’s unclear as to why it isn’t discussed as much as less-worthy shows on rival channels.  This is an Affan Waheed show all the way and he is the one stealing the show.
