Yunhi Episode 24: Kim Learns Of Iqbal and Zulfi’s Romance

“Yunhi” continues to not only win hearts of audiences, but also break down walls for its characters, showing just how important communication and respect is in any relationship.  While initially a tale of East vs. West, “Yunhi” has become so much more, representing how difficult relationships and family bonds can soften and change when an effort is made to do so.  Starring Bilal Ashraf and Maya Ali in lead roles, “Yunhi” also stars Behroze Sabzwari, Deepak Perwani, Uzma Beg, Tazeen Hussain, Tahira Imam, Khaqan Shahnawaz, Laiba Khurram, Manzoor Qureshi, Maha Hassan and others.  “Yunhi” has been written by Samira Fazal and directed by Ehtashamuddin.

In episode 24, Daniyal (Khaqan Shahnawaz) comes to terms with his failed relationship with Husna (Laila Khurram) after she rejects him outright in front of her mother.  Husna has proved to be a solid, strong character with a mind of her own, refusing to settle for a man who tossed her aside for a visa.  Later, Dawood (Bilal Ashraf) speaks to Daniyal about his behavior, acknowledging his hurt after being rejected, but also explaining that his behavior towards Kim (Maya Ali) was unacceptable.  Is Daniyal a “bad” guy?  He hasn’t been a good guy up until now, that’s for sure, but how he chooses to move forward will show his character. Khaqan Shahnawaz has played this character in an impressive way, making Dani detestable but enjoyable to watch.

Kim started off as a black sheep in the family, but has slowly gained love and appreciation by learning when to compromise.  Seeing the women of the household praise Kim for her nose piercing with Razia (Tahira Imam) even giving her a nose ring as a gift is a feel-good moment and all these women have performed in a natural way, making it seem as though we’re watching our own family members.  During one of these moments, Kim finds a love letter from Zulfi and pockets it – a move which is pretty unethical and dishonest, but we’ll allow it for the sake of story progression.  However, when she attempts to share the news of this love story with Dawood, he reacts in an unexpected way – as he already knows about Naveed and Iqbal’s upcoming marriage.  The two share a warm, honest discussion about Kim’s feelings regarding her father’s remarriage while she also encourages him to consider fighting for Zulfi and Iqbal.

Dawood and Kim’s relationship is the most beautiful aspect of this story, their bond growing into one of love and respect in a natural way.  They understand one another and that’s so important in a relationship.  The scene where Dawood jokes with Kim about her nose piercing, saying how could he like something causing his wife so much pain is one that makes us squeal at the cuteness of the moment.  Dawood is turning into a stand-up character, one who has grown from being a rigid shadow of his grandfather’s thoughts to a man willing to grow and change in his marriage.  This growth goes further than just his marriage though.  Both Dawood and Basharat (Behroze Sabzwari) play fair and give Basharat’s sisters their equal share in the property given by Dadaji (Manzoor Qureshi).  The lessons of rights and equality being given out in “Yunhi” are done in a subtle manner without any preaching and one hopes that those watching will learn a thing or two.  “Yunhi” continues to raise the bar each week.  But with Naveed and Iqbal’s marriage now being discussed, will Iqbal be forced to give up her love once again?  Or will Kim come to the rescue with Dawood’s help?
