The recent surge in Covid-19 cases in Dubai has resulted in authorities taking strict action against violators. Earlier this week, the Dubai Police issued fines worth Dhs50,000 to a number of individuals who hosted a private party on a yacht, while also disobeying coronavirus SOPs, including no social distancing and no masks in sight. Now, Dubai Police has shut down a desert camp after it arranged a private event, in which Covid-19 safety measures were not being followed either.
Dubai Media Office uploaded a video which has now gone viral. In the clip, guests at the camp were seen without masks and in close proximity to each other, once again violating Covid-19 guidelines. Dubai Police sought help from Dubai Tourism to shut down the camp.
The operator was fined Dhs50,000, while each participant was given a penalty of Dhs15,000. On another occasion this week, the Dubai Police issued a Dhs50,000 fine to a group of individuals who were caught hosting a party in an apartment in Dubai. Each attendee was also issued a fine worth Dhs15,000.
The UAE has witnessed a massive jump in Covid-19 cases during the past few weeks, following the opening of tourism. However, it has now shut down pubs and bars in an to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic, while hotels have been asked to operate at 70% of their total capacity.
