Harvey Weinstein Is Being “Closely Monitored” Following Health Complications, Tests Negative For Covid-19

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year jail sentence after being convicted of assault. Earlier this week, reports about his ill-health made the rounds on social media. Following a thorough medical examination, he has tested negative for Covid-19, his representatives confirmed on Thursday. He, however, continues to be “closely monitored” at the maximum-security Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, NY. According to a statement from spokesman Juda Engelmayer and Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s fever has dropped but he remains in care “due to plethora of underlying health issues which are continuing to decline, get worse, and need treatment.”

Earlier, the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and Department of Health reported that the ex-producer has a fever but would “neither confirm nor deny that Mr. Weinstein has tested positive for COVID-19,” reported Deadline.

The healthcare and medical team at Wende and the New York State Dept. of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Central Office have been working with Weinstein’s representatives “to ensure all his health issues will be addressed in a timely manner.” They said his illness “should come as no surprise that Mr. Weinstein has numerous maladies and conditions including a heart condition, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis.” Engelmayer and Rothfeld added, “We all remain concerned about his health.” At court appearances earlier this year, Weinstein used a walker to assist him during his contentious trial. Several women have accused him of sexual harassment and assault in the past.
