Cricket fans have long awaited the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final game ever since the playoff matches of the tournament were postponed earlier this year following the coronavirus outbreak. Yesterday’s semifinal witnessed Lahore Qalandars defeating Multan Sultans by 25 runs to reach the last stage of the contest, with David Wiese emerging victorious as the player of the match. The team is now all set for the face off against Karachi Kings on November 17, 2020. Neither of the sides have ever won a PSL championship in the past. Besides this, a clash between two of Pakistan’s biggest cities – Karachi and Lahore – would be epic, according to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Wasim Khan.

“There are some rivalries in sports world wide, just like Manchester United vs Manchester City; the Karachi vs Lahore encounter isn’t any different. Both are playing the final for the first time and I am sure it will be a magnificent event. Everyone in Karachi, Lahore and rest of Pakistan will be waiting,” he said. “Be it Karachi or Lahore, it should be a good contest.” And Twitter users feel the same! Which team are you supporting Biryani or Pulao? #PSLFinal#KKvsLQ,” read a humorous post. “Karachi Kings Vs Lahore Qalandars will bring out the 80’s rivalry of Cricket. May the best team win. As a Karachiite, I’m of course rooting for Karachi Kings,” added another fan of the sport. Throwing shade at one of the best players to come out of Pakistani cricket, Babar Azam, a user tweeted, “Lahore ka larka Karachi ke liye psl ki trophy jeetyga #KKvsLQ#final#PhirSeTayyarHain.” A similar post read, “Lahore reaches the final to play against Karachi. Big final coming. Excited.” Some even compared the Karachi-Lahore match to a Pakistan-India final. “Karachi vs Lahore ka Match aise lag raha hae jaise Pakistan Vs India.” Echoing the sentiments, another user wrote, “Karachi or Lahore, Matlab Pakistan or India ka final.”

 

 

 

Pakistani Politicians Who Contracted Covid-19

Others expressed grief over the fact that no spectators will be allowed in the venue due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “Sad to see that we will witness biggest rivalry of Pakistan #Cricket in a situation where no crowd is allowed. #Lahore Vs #Karachi Final in NSK with crowd is perfect story #PSLFinal.” Referring to it as a “great final” ahead, a user penned, “Lahore has the advantage of game practice of 3 matches while Karachi has psychological advantage of a victory over Lahore. It will be a great final of PSL no doubt.” Another user weighed in on why Lahore has a better chance of winning. “I have a feeling Karachi Kings will lose the final tomorrow. Lahore team is way better in every aspect. Only weak link they have is Fakhar.” Some users even took to Twitter to share who they and their families are supporting. So, no one in the house is supporting Karachi Kings tomorrow except me and Baba. I am scared if we lose my siblings will start making fun of me. Also, the fact that Lahore has been in a very good form throughout. Karachi nearly lost the last match if Amir hadn’t bowled well.” Many users on the micro-blogging site are already betting Lahore Qalandars will take the trophy home. “How does reaching first time make them more deserving? Karachi has won more matches than Lahore in the tournament… how does it make them less deserving?
