Mujhe Vida Kar Episodes 29 – 32: Usman and Rida’s Marriage Hits Rock Bottom

“Mujhe Vida Kar,” which airs from Monday to Thursday, highlights the plight of women who realize the dream of marriage is not what they expected. Starring Saboor Aly, Haaris Waheed, Madiha Imam, Muneeb Butt, Raza Talish, Tara Mehmood and others, “Mujhe Vida Kar” has been written by Samra Bukhari and directed by Sabir Zafar.

In episodes 29 to 32, Usman (Muneeb Butt) is now seen conducting an emotional affair outside the home with one of his overly eager colleagues. He uses this woman to escape the toxic environment – ironically, one of his own creation as he chooses to believe his parents lies about his wife. Rida (Madiha Imam) is at her wits end, but has thankfully found support in Iqbal (Paras Masroor) who is appreciative of Rida as well as only too familiar with his intrusive, oppressive in-laws. Unfortunately, Kashfa (Maira Khan) and her parents (Saba Hameed, Shabbir Jan) continue to make life a living hell for Rida. Things reach a breaking point when Rida finally decides to tell Usman about the jewelry Kashfa and his mother took from her on Aneek’s wedding day. While Usman initially believes her and rushes in to confront his mother and sister, they put on an act and turn him against Rida. One final accusation of Safeer and Rida’s affair and Rida snaps, finally walking out on Usman and heading back home. Unfortunately, Rida’s mother is not as supportive as one would’ve hoped, encouraging Rida to make things work and asking her to keep her problems hidden from Aneek (Haaris Waheed). However, it seems as though Usman will discover his mother and Kashfa’s lies regarding the jewelry in the next episode, meaning progress will finally be seen.

Unfortunately, Sadia (Saboor Aly) and Aneek deserved a proper love story and their story was one that the audience was genuinely rooting for. However with the arrival of Masooma (Mariam Ansari), the most annoying, irrelevant and unnecessary character possible, their love story has gone for a lurch. Masooma, for some unknown reason, is turning Aneek against Sadia by making him feel as though Sadia doesn’t care for him. Meanwhile, she fills Sadia’s head with open taunts, telling her she is “mahoos” (bad luck) and making her feel just downright awful about herself. What’s hilarious here is that Sadia doesn’t stop Masooma and tell her to know her place – Masooma is literally living in Sadia’s house without anywhere else to go. As an audience, we really don’t need this storyline at all. Masooma is a useless character and there isn’t any reason for Sadia to believe she is “manhoos” to the extent where she would begin listening to Masooma’s taunts. The two are first cousins – why don’t they share a relationship? It’s as though they are absolute strangers.

At this point, Usman has already gone beyond being redeemable as a character. He would have to do a lot of groveling and begging, along with moving far away from his toxic family, to be seen as appropriate for Rida. However, seeing Rida end up with Safeer (Raza Talish) seems unlikely considering her mother’s suddenly regressive attitude. Still, at least the show is headed somewhere (hopefully) in the next week.
