Parwaz Hai Junoon To Release In China On November 13

Several Pakistani films have received the international stamp in the past, be it bagging awards at film fests or being screened globally. The latest blockbuster to conquer foreign waters is Haseeb Hassan’s Parwaaz Hai Junoon. Produced by Momina Duraid and written by Farhat Ishtiaq, the 2018 aerial combat-war film made waves at the domestic box office, raking in a total of Rs43 crore following a successful run at theatres across the country. Now, the Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ahad Raza Mir-starrer will be the first Pakistani project to release in Chinese mainland cinemas after 40 years. The announcement was made on the film’s official Instagram handle.

 

“In a historic development for Pakistani films, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, starring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir, and Ahad Raza Mir in lead roles is all set to release in China on November 13, 2020!” read the post. The action drama was earlier released in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 4th November, 2018. And the premiere was also attended by Abbasi and Aamir as well as the Ambassador of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan.

“Grateful to Allah that I got to be a part of the 1st Pakistani Film to be released in China after 40 years,” wrote Abbasi, while sharing the exciting news with his Twitter followers. According to CGTN journalist Shen Shiwei, Hassan’s directorial features “JF-17, a fourth-generation fighter jointly developed by #China and #Pakistan.” The film’s cast also shared the Chinese language trailer of Parwaaz Hai Junoon on their respective social media accounts. In a statement released earlier this year, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad said the debut of Parwaaz Hai Junoon in Beijing was one of the “16 local-to-local partnerships” to promote local cooperation between the two friendly nations.
