Prem Gali Episode 22: Joya and Hamza’s Marriage Spirals Due to Lack of Privacy

“Prem Gali” is one of those dramas that manages to tell an interesting story each week and though some episodes may be more serious than others, it’s a show that can be called a stress-buster. The viewer thoroughly enjoys themselves while watching this show while also watching something that is quality, imparting some real-life lessons through the narrative. Starring Farhan Saeed, Sohai Ali Abro, Saba Hameed, Uzma Hassan, Shamim Hilaly, Qavi Khan Waseem Abbas and others, “Prem Gali” has been written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed.

Episode 22 shows how Hamza (Farhan Saeed) and Joya (Sohai Ali Abro) find themselves in a bad position when they begin fighting over the antics of their families. While Hamza feels as though Shireen (Saba Hameed) does not respect him and is behaving irrationally (by having him followed to work), Joya is feeling stifled by Hatim (Waseem Abbas) and Luqman’s (Abdullah Farhatullah) consistent interference in every small detail of her life, along with Dada Ji (Qavi Khan) constantly force-feeding her food. While Hamza initially chides her for bad-mouthing them for their love for her, he realizes things are bad for her too when she tells him Luqman has been checking her phone. Luqman, on his part, believes Joya is having an affair and was married by force to Hamza, which is why he continues to snoop. Of course,

Shireen also has her reasons for following Hamza, realizing that Hamza works for Manzoor (Javed Sheikh), her ex-husband. Shireen’s fear is not unfounded or ill-meaning, believing that if Hamza finds out about Joya’s past, he may mistreat her. Manzoor is a kind man and only wants to ensure his daughter’s happiness, befriending Hamza. But Shireen does not have good thoughts for Manzoor and is also not forthcoming about her reasons, trying to recruit Joya to get him to resign. This, of course, triggers Joya and she stands up for Hamza, asking her mother to stay out of her married life. This is a difficult situation because Shireen has raised Joya with a lot of love and protection and while Joya should appreciate that, it’s also clear that Shireen is creating a lot of problems for Joya in her marriage. Joya does not want to destroy her own marriage, so she begins thinking moving away may be better to save her relationship – but she tells Hamza that if she leaves her family, he should do so as well.

Prem Gali Episode 21: Hamza and Joya’s Marriage Is Affected by Shireen’s Meddling

“Prem Gali” is currently tackling a storyline that is a necessary one – when a boy and girl get married, why is it that the girl must abandon her family? Why is that responsibility placed on the girl to care for the family of her husband instead of both husband and wife caring for each others famiiies? And if both families begin creating problems for the young couple, when does it become appropriate to distance ones self in order to maintain a good relationship with said family? The joint family system is a beloved concept, but is it one that can work for everyone? This plot point takes up much of the present story and it’s presented in a way that every viewer, young and old, will be able to understand and connect with. Farhan Saeed and Sohai Ali Abro are both great performers and the rest of the cast is a talented bunch as well, so its difficult to pin-point who the best performers are each week. “Prem Gali” is a winner, but the story does need to pick up pace with at least Hamza discovering Manzoor’s identity soon.
