PSL Final 2020: Pakistani Stars Congratulate Karachi Kings Following Whopping Win

Having been postponed in February following the coronavirus outbreak, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) came to a close yesterday, with Karachi Kings being crowned the champions. It was a superb and big moment for the team because not only was it their first-time taking the trophy home but it was also a well-deserved win considering the players lost their coach Dean Jones in September. Moreover, they won the match on their home ground! Karachi Kings, now coached by ace former cricketer Wasim Akram, defeated runner-up Lahore Qalandars by five wickets, with Babar Azam receiving the prize for the player of the match and tournament. Pakistani celebrities took to social media and congratulated the team on the whopping win!

Cricket fan and singer Asim Azhar shared an exciting video on Instagram. It featured him cheering and shouting when Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim finished off the match with an unexpected four. “KARACHI KINGS CHAMPIONS! YE HAI KARACHI! winning moments,” he posted on the photo-sharing platform.

 

 

 

Mehwish Hayat termed the match as a “thrilling experience!” Writing on the micro-blogging site, she penned, “A thrilling finale to the #HBLPSLV. A well-deserved win for the Karachi Kings and a fitting tribute to their late coach, Dean Jones. He would really have been proud today!” Musician Fakhr-e-Alam remembered Jones too. He wrote, “Congratulations to the champions @KarachiKingsARY @wasimakramlive @simadwasim @babarazam258 @Salman_ARY and most of all to the champion up in the skies Dean Jones. #HBLPSLV#HBLPSL.”

Wasim Akram was elated over the win and lauded the players for their efforts and discipline. “I wanted to say how proud I am to have worked with such a professional and dedicated team. Never in my life have I seen such spirit & unity. I’m so honoured to stand alongside this team tonight as we go out and give it everything we’ve got #PSLFinal. @KarachiKingsARY,” he posted, hours ahead of the final. Following the win, Akram tweeted, “Nothing can prepare you for an ending quite like this. A year we will never ever forget. It’s bittersweet. #KarachiTakesTheCup#PSLFinal2020#RIPDeano.” Actor Shahroz Sabzwari posted, “Proud of you @KarachiKingsARY #mykarachi#myteam – Love more Hate less. Hate more?
