The creators of Glee are starting a college fund for Naya Rivera’s son

Earlier this month, we were left in shock when popular Glee star, Naya Rivera went missing on July 8. Together with her 4-year-old son Josey, the 33-year-old actress was on a boating trip with on River Piru, where they had rented a boat and ventured out into the lake. As she went missing, her son was found alone, unharmed and she was presumed drowned after she went missing. Earlier this week, the actress was confirmed dead after her body was found by the Ventura County Police.

Following the confirmation, Naya Rivera’s family made a statement and requested privacy during this difficult time. Meanwhile, the friends and creators of Glee, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennann have decided to honour Naya Rivera in the sweetest way possible. They have decided to start a college fund for Josey. In a statement to Us Weekly on July 14, the group said, “Our hearts go out to her family, especially her mom, Yolanda, who was a big part of the Glee family and her son Josey. The three of us are currently in the process of creating a college fund for the beautiful son Naya loved most of all.”

Naya Rivera shared her son with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey. Following her death, the Glee creators remembered Naya as one of the most “special stars we would ever have the pleasure of working with.” They went on to add, “Naya was more than just an actor on our show — she was our friend.”
