TLP Chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi Passes Away: Condolences Pour In From Across The Country

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed away in Lahore on Thursday evening. He was suffering from a prolonged illness, according to his family members. Earlier this week, Rizvi’s supporters staged a protest against France in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He was 54 years old. Rizvi had allegedly been suffering from high fever for the last few days as well as shortness of breath. He was shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital where he suffered a fatal heart attack. Local TLP officials said that the funeral prayer for Maulana Rizvi will be held at Minar-e-Pakistan ground on Saturday (tomorrow) at 11am.

 

 

 

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed grief over Rizvi’s passing. He tweeted, “On the passing of Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi my condolences go to his family. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” Several others took to the micro-blogging platform to extend their condolences for the bereaved. A post on the official DG ISPR handle read, “General Qamar Javed Bajwa, #COAS, expresses heartfelt condolence on the sad demise of Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi. May Allah Almighty bless the departed soul in eternal peace, Ameen. COAS.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Pakistani preacher had fans across the country. One user posted, “This was the man I voted for in 2018.Due to antagonists I never told anyone. I knew him since childhood. He always spoke about The Prophet’s (SAW) love. He was highly intellectual. His selection of words was clear depiction of his heart. RIP molana sb #KhadimRizvi.” Another added, When he was alive, #KhadimRizvi berated and mocked Edhi, questioned his faith and lamented at the State giving him a state funeral. Today, as he was breathing his last, he was rushed to hospital in an #Edhi ambulance. Humanity trumps Mullaism. Never forget that.”

 

 

 

 

 

A heartbroken user penned, “With the death of #KhadimRizvi, let’s remember what Islamists like him stand for. His latest work included a song (with his voice in the chorus) that encouraged beheading anyone who insults or draws Muhammad PBUH. Pakistan may never recover from the damage of Islamists like him.” Others wrote about how his words always gave them comfort in trying times. “Always used to listen him. Power and choice of his words always gives me energy,” read a post. “Today, we lost an era!” A similar heartfelt condolence read, “People criticized him but he didn’t leave his right path. He always spoke for the Khatam-e-Nabuwat (S.A.W.W). Today we lost a true Muslim. May ALLAH Almighty bless him with highest rank in Jannah. Ameen #KhadimRizvi.”

Columnist Mohommad Taqi wrote, “#KhadimRizvi and his handlers literally weaponized Barelvism in a way unknown in post-partition Indo-Pak. The virulence he brought to the sectarian religious discourse in Pakistan, is here to stay for a while.” A user posted a video of Rizvi’s proponents weeping while taking his body from the hospital. “Exclusive footage of #TLP workers crying and taking away the dead body of #KhadimRizvi from emergency of Sheikh Zaid hospital, #Lahore#Pakistan.” Referring to Rizvi as a great orator and cleric, a user posted, “It’s not the End of a great orator and cleric Khadim Hussain Rizvi, because of his principled stance on the finality of the Holy Prophet PBUH. It seems that he came and conquered the Socio-religious and political arena of Pakistan,” while another added, “This distance will never be filled by the departure of a pious and mujahid person who has spent his last days in the struggle for honor and prophethood. Despite his disability, Maulana struggled for the glory of the Holy Prophet (SAW). Indeed.”
