Of the many things Princess Diana was known and loved for, her penchant for fashion and bold fashion choices was just one. Her legacy lives on, and most certainly beyond fashion. There is no denying that she is one of the greatest fashion icons of the 20th century and till today, we turn to her for inspiration and still celebrate her effortless style. From the daring bold prints, to the tweed jackets and velvet blazers, to the gorgeous satin dresses and stunning jewels, Lady Diana’s fashion choices knew no bounds.
Princess Diana wasn’t afraid to experiment and never backed down from sporting a bold silhouette or a head turning look. She took it all in her stride to try it all. And with that being said, we revisit two looks where she can be seen sporting two of our favourite prints. The bold stripes and the classic polka dot.
The classic polka dots
From all the vivacious prints sported by the princess, Lady Diana’s look for Royal Ascot in 1988 remains our favourite. The look combined the classic polka dot print together with a statement sleeve which we have seen trending in the times of today. The outfit is ruched at the waist and coupled with matching headgear; a must for all Royal Ascot attendees. The look is complete with a monochrome clutch and pearl jewellery and is oh so timeless, just like most of her looks.
The bold stripes
If there is anyone who could pull off a bold print at Wimbledon, it is none other than Princess Diana. Spectators were left in awe when she arrived at the centre court in a bold red and white striped outfit. The look was teamed with a matching red clutch, ribbon accents and statement sleeves. And may we add, that voluminous blowout is hard to miss. She left heads turning in all her looks and her style was an amalgamation of quirky, bold and chic.
